Skimmer Aerator

Especially when the skimmer is not equipped with its own pump, part of the feed disappears into the skimmer and the filter system, for example, if the skimmer does not have its own pump that can be turned off during feeding. This often occurs when the skimmer is connected to a sieve or a drum filter in combination with a bottom drain. By aerating the skimmer during feeding (for example, the air pump can be temporarily activated with a remote control), it is prevented that feed is discharged via the skimmer.

The Skimmer Aerator is placed at so-called floating skimmers, and slid over the 110mm pipe under the moving part of the skimmer. The frame is made of stainless steel 316, and the aeration hose is replaceable. We recommend using the Thomas AP40 air pump or a pump with comparable capacity (approx. 50 l/min @ 1 meter depth).
