Spa Cleaning Tablet for spas, whirlpools and hot tubs
The Spa Cleaning Tablet is a selective oxidant specially developed to thoroughly clean the piping system and water of spas, hot tubs, and jacuzzis and to reduce bacterial pressure.
The Spa Cleaning Tablet effectively suppresses anaerobic bacteria, fungi, and biofilm formation in pipes and jets. The tablet is highly selective, safe when used correctly, and easy to apply.

Spa Cleaning Tablet Properties
The Spa Cleaning Tablet contains a carefully composed mixture that forms chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) when dissolved in water.
No chlorine, no odor
Important to know: chlorine dioxide is entirely different from chlorine.
Although the names sound similar, they function very differently. Where chlorine often leaves a strong, pungent odor, chlorine dioxide does not. It is odorless and tasteless in water at the recommended concentrations.
It is a powerful yet selective oxidizer that is highly effective against biofilm, pathogens, and organic waste. The Spa Cleaning Tablet does not affect the water’s pH level, works at low temperatures and higher pH. Chlorine dioxide is effective at very low concentrations and kills pathogenic bacteria without building resistance.
Chlorine dioxide penetrates the biofilm and removes it from walls and pipes—up to 100 times more effectively than chlorine.
To sufficiently neutralize bacteria and protozoa, including cryptosporidium spp (99.9% kill rate), a CT value (free chlorine (mg/l) x time (minutes)) of at least 15,300 is advised when using chlorine (amine). At a concentration of 20 mg/l, almost 13 hours of circulation is required (15,300/20 = 765 minutes).
With chlorine dioxide, a CT value of 70 is sufficient: with a dosage of 1.2 mg/l, a 1-hour circulation achieves a similar result.
The active strength of chlorine dioxide comes not from the chlorine but from oxygen atoms breaking down harmful substances via oxidation. The chloride ion (also found in table salt) does not actively participate. Therefore, the Spa Cleaning Tablet is a much gentler and healthier alternative compared to, for example, chlorine. Chlorine can create harmful byproducts that are toxic and may cause allergic reactions, such as skin irritation.
Powerful against pathogens – gentle on the spa
Chlorine dioxide is very effective against harmful microorganisms such as:
- anaerobic bacteria
- fungi
- viruses
- biofilm and organic waste
The special feature of chlorine dioxide is that it is a selective oxidizer. That means: it mainly attacks organic matter and, when used correctly, leaves materials like stainless steel, rubber, and filters largely unaffected.
Low oxidation strength: safe for your system
Oxidizers like chlorine, ozone, or hydrogen peroxide can be so strong they become harmful to living organisms or spa components.
Chlorine dioxide, on the other hand, has a lower oxidation strength, making it much safer for spa systems, pipes, and sensitive parts. Even living organisms, such as fish in aquaculture, tolerate it well at low concentrations.
The Spa Cleaning Tablet is ideally suited for periodic cleaning of internal pipes, jets, pumps, and filters in spas. It also effectively removes biofilm that accumulates in hard-to-reach areas.
Instructions for spa / jacuzzi / hot tub
Creating a chlorine dioxide solution:
- Note: The product is hygroscopic. Use immediately after opening.
- Take a dark jerrycan filled with clean (tap) water (use at least 1 liter of water). In 1 liter, the concentration will be 2000 mg/l.
- Note: always add the tablet outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Do not smell the concentrated solution! (Concentrated) ClO₂ gas is harmful.
- Note: Wear protective gloves.
- Note: Avoid contact with eyes/skin.
- Add 1 Spa Cleaning Tablet. Avoid shaking the jerrycan. Let the tablet dissolve without stirring.
- Seal the jerrycan tightly.
- After reaction time: gently shake.
- You now have a 1-liter solution with a concentration of 2000 mg/l.
Dosage and applications based on this 2000 mg/l solution.
For larger quantities, a 1 KG package is available (equals 50 tablets).
Be cautious of ClO₂ vapor when pouring concentrated solution!
If using part of the solution, store the remainder in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place. The solution has a shelf life of 6–12 weeks.
