Swimming pools & whirlpools, hot tubs

Swimming pools:

Chlorine dioxide penetrates the biofilm and removes it from walls and pipes, up to 100 times more effectively than chlorine.
To sufficiently neutralize bacteria and protozoa, including cryptosporidium spp (99.9% kill), a CT value (free chlorine (mg/l) x time (minutes)) of at least 15300 is recommended when using chlorine (amine). So at a concentration of 20 mg/l, it is necessary to circulate for almost 13 hours (15300/20 = 765 minutes). When using chlorine dioxide, a CT value of 70 is sufficient: with a dose of 1.2 mg/l, a circulation of 1 hour is sufficient for a comparable result.

Dosage based on a 20g tablet (2000 mg ClO2):
Swimming pool:

  • Maintenance dose every week: 1 tablet per 15,000 liters
  • Boost maintenance every 3 months: 1 tablet per 5,000 liters of water. Backwash the filter after approximately 30-60 minutes. Total ClO2 concentration remains below 0.4 mg/l

Disinfect filter media:

  • With storage reservoir: Fill the storage tank and switch off the pumps. Add 1 tablet per 5m3 basin volume to the storage tank. Position the valves so that the filter rotates in itself through the storage basin. Turn on the pump for 5 minutes. Then stop the pump for 60 minutes.
  • Without storage reservoir: Turn off the pump. Position the valve so that the filter flushes itself. Add 1 tablet to the filter or into the waste basket for the pump. Run the pump for 30 minutes. Perform a backwash.

Whirlpools and hot tubs:

  • Maintenance dose every week: 1 tablet per 10,000 liters
  • Boost maintenance every 3 months: 2 tablets per 1000 liters of water. Let the filter and massage system run for 60 minutes. The whirlpool / hot tub cannot be used during rinsing. Then rinse all water and refresh with clean water. Repeat this treatment at least 1x every 3 months.
